From Brunnenfest to City Festival

The Brunnenfest in Hartha — a small town with around 7,500 inhabitants in the Mittelsachsen district — has grown from a traditional Brunnenfest into a full-fledged city festival over the years. From Friday, June 5th, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026, the market square and surrounding streets will transform into a festival mile with a large festival tent, club mile, and funfair.

The Program Outline

On Friday, the festival starts at 7 PM with the opening and live music in the festival tent — Friday evening is traditionally dedicated to the younger audience. On Saturday, the festival opens from 2 PM: stalls, funfair, snack stands, and drink vendors are particularly busy in the afternoon. The highlight on Saturday is the book flea market in the middle of the town, followed by a live music program in the evening with bands from the region. On Sunday, it continues from 11 AM — with the traditional musical brunch, club activities, and a family afternoon.

Hartha — A Small Town with Festival Culture

Hartha is located in the Saxon Uplands between Döbeln and Waldheim, nestled in the Lommatzscher Pflege and on the edge of the Ore Mountains foothills. The town cultivates a lively club scene — from carnival clubs to sports clubs to the fire brigade — and the Brunnenfest is a central platform for this club work. Those who want to experience Saxony away from the big festival cities will find an authentic small-town festival with a real neighborhood atmosphere here.

Getting There

Hartha is accessible by regional train from Leipzig (via Geithain) and from Chemnitz (via Burgstädt), the train station is on the outskirts of the town. By car via the A 14 (exit Döbeln-Nord or Leisnig). During the festival, the market square is closed — parking is available on side streets and at the train station.
