World's first festival for trans music — at Kampnagel
When TRANSTRONICA first took place in 2022, it was, according to its own statement, the world's first music festival explicitly centering trans and non-binary artists. Founded by Saeleen Bouvar, the festival brings together local and international acts from electronic music, pop, performance, and spoken word — on the experimental stages of Kampnagel in Winterhude.
Each edition is thematically focused. 2026 runs under the title "Transmissions" with two daily themes: "Rhythms" (Beat, Language, and Resistance) and "Voices" (Voice, Intimacy, Narrative). The festival explicitly connects music and lived experience — not just a club program, but a curated blend of dance, discourse, and visibility.
One of its hallmarks: the "Pay as you wish" pricing model — visitors pay what they can and want. TRANSTRONICA thus explicitly positions itself against economic exclusion and for comprehensive accessibility within the queer scene.
Kampnagel at Jarrestraße 20 in Winterhude is one of the most important international production houses for independent arts in Germany. The former machine factory, with its raw industrial halls, provides TRANSTRONICA with a fitting backdrop — away from mainstream clubs and commercial festival logic. District: Hamburg-Nord.
From Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, April 26, 2026, TRANSTRONICA transforms Kampnagel into an international stage for trans and non-binary artists for its 5th edition.
On the 2026 program announcement: Kinari (rapper/producer from India), Janis Sahraoui (Pop/Performance), JNNRHNDRXX, Rosalíe, CHIVARI, aiel, Hausvrau, Saeleen Bouvar (Festival founder), JAARA, Mine Pleasure Bouvar.
Day 1 (April 25) — Rhythms: Beat, Language, and Resistance. Day 2 (April 26) — Voices: Voice, Intimacy, Narrative.
