International Street Food Festival at Muslenplatz Schwenningen with city beach and live music
The Street Food Festival in Villingen-Schwenningen is one of the largest street food events in the Black Forest — and part of a broader summer program that has made Schwenningen's Muslenplatz an urban summer stage for the twin city for several years. With the Stadtstrand (city beach) concept, the city of Villingen-Schwenningen has succeeded in transforming a historic inner-city square into a summery feel-good location — and the Street Food Festival is its culinary highlight.
The 2026 edition runs from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, 2026, with the following opening hours:
Dishes are prepared fresh at truck stands — mostly with high-quality ingredients, often sourced regionally, with a clear connection to the respective original cuisine. You walk from stand to stand, taste, combine — a culinary tour around the world in one place.
The assortment varies from year to year, but classics include:
While you eat, you look out onto the Stadtstrand (city beach): Sand on the square, loungers, beach chairs, palm decorations, a colorful cocktail bar, blue lights, swinging fairy lights between buildings. Live music on a small stage — DJ sets, acoustic acts, cover bands. The mix of international food and urban beach atmosphere makes the festival particularly attractive for young families, students, and an open-minded audience from all over the Black Forest.
With around 87,000 inhabitants, Villingen-Schwenningen is the second-largest city in the Schwarzwald-Baar district — and a true twin city: in 1972, the two independent cities of Villingen (Baden-influenced) and Schwenningen (Württemberg-influenced) were merged for administrative purposes, but they retain their own identity and history. Schwenningen is the eastern, Württemberg district — the historic center of the clock industry (Junghans, Kienzle, Mauthe), now home to a police academy and industry. The Muslenplatz in the Schwenningen center has been the venue for the Stadtstrand and the Street Food Festival for years.
The 2026 edition also marks the finale of the Schwenningen Stadtstrand for the season. Expectations are therefore particularly high — the city of Villingen-Schwenningen promotes the festival as the culinary highlight of the summer.
