Barnstorf Schützenfest

Tradition since 1873

The Barnstorf Rifle Association was founded in 1873, making it one of the oldest rifle associations in the Diepholz district. For over 150 years, the association has preserved the shooting tradition in Barnstorf and is now a firmly established institution in the local community life.

Barnstorf is located in the southern Diepholz district and is the seat of a collective municipality (Samtgemeinde). The rifle association is one of the largest and most active associations in the municipality and significantly shapes social life.

Gentlemen's Parade and Ladies' Parade as Preliminary Events

A special feature of the association's life is the tradition of the Gentlemen's Parade (Herrenzug) and the Ladies' Parade (Damenzug). The Gentlemen's Parade takes place on April 6, 2026, followed by the Ladies' Parade on April 11, 2026. These preliminary events are social highlights where members come together and prepare for the big Schützenfest in the summer.

Schützenfest in June/July

The exact date of the 2026 Schützenfest will be published by the association in the PDF schedule on schuetzenverein-barnstorf.de. The program follows the classic cornerstones of a North German Schützenfest with bird shooting (Vogelschießen), a parade (Festumzug), proclamation of the king/queen (Königsproklamation), and dance evenings.
