Ten days of family Volksfest (popular festival) in the Schwarzwald-Baar district — rides, beer tent, and Wednesday family day
From August 21 to 31, 2026, the Schwenningen exhibition grounds will once again transform into the ten-day Volksfest arena of the Schwarzwald-Baar district. The Schwenninger Volksfest is a staple of the summer calendar in southern Baden-Württemberg, attracting families, young people, and Volksfest fans from across the region.
The Volksfest offers a wide range of rides for all ages:
The culinary heart is the Bavarian-Alpine village with a beer garden — Schwenningen's version of an Oktoberfest tent. Wooden huts, long beer benches, Alpine decorations, and a wide selection of beers from light Helles to wheat beer define the atmosphere. Live music plays on the stage on weekends — typical festival tent programming with cover bands and Schlager music.
Program highlights:
Schwenningen, along with Villingen, forms the twin city of Villingen-Schwenningen — with around 90,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Schwarzwald-Baar district. The exhibition grounds are located in the eastern district of Schwenningen and are easily accessible from the A81 motorway. Its central location between the Black Forest, the Swabian Jura, and Lake Constance makes the Volksfest a draw for the entire southwestern German region.
The organizer is Gebauer-Vogt Veranstaltungen, an established Volksfest company from the region. The company has been organizing Volksfests in southern Germany for decades and ensures professional logistics — from security and the selection of showmen to stage programming in the beer tent.
From August 21 to 31, 2026, the Schwenninger Volksfest will take place. Organizer Gebauer-Vogt Veranstaltungen brings ten days of Volksfest atmosphere to the exhibition grounds in the Schwarzwald-Baar district.
Adrenaline rides like "1001 Nacht", bumper cars, Break Dance, and the haunted house meet the "Verrückte Baustelle" children's roller coaster. The Bavarian-Alpine village with a beer garden is the culinary main stage; live music plays on weekends. Wednesday, August 26, is Family Day with discounts on attractions.
Free admission. Free parking. Rides, food, and drinks are paid for per consumption.
By car: A81 exit Villingen-Schwenningen, then follow signs to the exhibition grounds. Free parking. By train: Schwenningen station (RE Stuttgart–Singen), about a 10-minute walk from the station.
