Summer cinema in the historic Spitalhof — 25 screening nights from August 8 to September 1, 2026
The Spitalhof, a historic courtyard between Marktplatz and Metzgerstraße in the heart of Reutlingen, is one of the most atmospheric venues in the district during the summer. Old half-timbered facades, cobblestones, a few trees — and in the middle: a large screen, with 500 seats in front of it under the open sky. For years, Kino Kamino has operated its open-air summer cinema here, which has become a fixed date in Reutlingen's cultural calendar.
For the 2026 edition, Kamino has acquired an enlarged screen: 10 by 5 meters, high-definition projection, professional sound setup. The visual experience thus approaches that of a classic indoor cinema — with warm summer air, a starry sky, and a glass of wine in hand.
The 2026 program includes 21 carefully curated films over 25 screening nights between August 8 and September 1 (closed Mondays). The selection ranges from current arthouse highlights and Cannes favorites to summer blockbusters. Some films will also be shown in their original language with subtitles. The exact film list will be published on the Kamino website in early July 2026.
500 seats are set up in the Spitalhof — comfortable chairs, no numbered seats. Admission daily from 7:30 PM, screenings begin depending on sunset between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM. In case of rain, screenings will move to the covered Kino Kamino.
Reutlingen has a vibrant cinema culture: In addition to Kamino with its multiple screens, the city hosts the Open-Air Cinema, the Reutlingen Tübingen French Film Days, and several special series annually. The city in the Reutlingen district, at the foot of the Swabian Jura, with almost 116,000 inhabitants, is the largest medium-sized city in southern Baden-Württemberg.
The 2026 open-air season continues the Reutlingen tradition while introducing a technical innovation: the significantly enlarged 10 × 5 meter screen. This brings the image quality closer to that of an indoor cinema, combined with the warm summer air and the atmosphere of the historic courtyard.
