Southern Germany's major regional trade fair — nine days of experience marketing for around 70,000 visitors
For decades, the Südwest-Messe Villingen-Schwenningen has been the most important consumer fair in Southern Württemberg and the northern Black Forest. On the large exhibition grounds in the Schwenningen district, in the Schwarzwald-Baar district, around 500 exhibitors and 70,000 visitors meet every early summer for a broad-based showcase of crafts, trade, industry, and services. It is a must-attend event for homeowners, DIY enthusiasts, families, and anyone who wants to start their summer with inspiration for home, garden, travel, or health.
The 2026 edition runs for nine days from Saturday, May 30 to Sunday, June 7, 2026. Opening hours daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thematic focuses for 2026: energy-efficient building and living, health and wellness, culinary, and household. In addition, there are classic consumer fair areas: automotive, garden, tourism, fashion, jewelry. 16 halls and an outdoor area for large exhibits (motorhomes, garden technology, construction machinery) are available to exhibitors.
The Südwest-Messe thrives on its special exhibitions: thematic displays on changing focal points (renewable energy, smart home, organic gastronomy, outdoor experience). The action hall hosts live demonstrations, tastings of regional specialties from Baden and Swabia, stage shows with music and fashion, and consultation hours. Catering is provided by regional businesses — dining tents with Black Forest, Swabian, and international cuisine, plus cafés, ice cream parlors, and street food stalls.
The city of Villingen-Schwenningen combines two historically independent cities — Villingen with its baroque old town and Schwenningen as an industrial city — and is the economic center of the Schwarzwald-Baar district. The exhibition grounds are located in the Schwenningen district, easily accessible from the A81 motorway and the train station, and with its large multi-purpose hall and several exhibition buildings, it is one of the largest event complexes in Southern Württemberg. The city itself becomes a venue during the trade fair: hotels are fully booked, restaurants are crowded, and the city program adapts to the trade fair week.
The 2026 edition offers a comprehensive consumer fair on the large Schwenningen exhibition grounds with the classic focus areas: energy-efficient building and living (solar, heat pumps, renovation, interior design), health and wellness (consultation, natural medicine, sports), culinary (regional producers, street food, tastings), household and lifestyle, garden, mobility, tourism, and fashion/jewelry.
Over 500 exhibitors fill the 16 halls and the outdoor area; around 70,000 visitors are expected. The action hall hosts live shows, stage programs, and demonstrations. Tastings of specialties from Baden and Swabia are among the most visited program items.
The day-by-day stage and lecture program will be published shortly before the trade fair begins on suedwest-messe.de and in the official trade fair catalog.

Weekdays are usually more relaxed than weekends. If you want to visit the special exhibitions in detail, allow two to three hours for the halls. Come hungry — the tastings of regional specialties from Baden and Swabia are among the highlights of every Südwest-Messe.
Hotels in Villingen-Schwenningen are usually fully booked during the trade fair — early booking recommended. Alternatively: Donaueschingen, Bad Dürrheim, St. Georgen, or Triberg in the Black Forest (each approx. 20 min. drive).
