Highlight of the Fifth Season
The Schwabach Carnival Parade is the grand carnival event of the gold-beater town of Schwabach. Organized by KG Die Schwabanesen e.V., it traditionally takes place on Shrove Tuesday – in 2026, it will be the 54th edition. With the cry "Helau", revellers, clubs, and regulars' tables conquer the city centre.
The Parade Route
Assembly is around 1 PM at Birkenstraße (corner of Hindenburgstraße), the parade starts moving at 2 PM. The route leads through the city centre to Ludwigstraße (corner of Südliche Ringstraße). Floats, walking groups, and music bands parade in a colourful procession through Schwabach, accompanied by thousands of spectators along the route.
Clubs, Regulars' Tables, and Floats
Floats, walking groups, and groups from clubs and regulars' tables can participate – with cars, floats, and on foot, according to the applicable rules (maximum float width 3.3 m in the city centre). Registration of groups is done in advance with the Schwabanesen so that the parade can be planned. The Schwabanesen's prince and princess lead the parade.
Schwabach – The Gold-Beater Town
Schwabach is an independent town in Middle Franconia, south of Nuremberg, world-renowned for its gold-beating craft (gold leaf). During carnival season, the historic old town around Königsplatz transforms into a carnival stronghold – the carnival parade is the social and cultural highlight of the season and a magnet for the entire Roth-Schwabach region.
