Renowned chamber music series in the Baroque Castle Oranienstein high above Diez
The Oraniensteiner Konzerte celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2026. What began as an initiative by music-loving citizens in the newly renovated hall of the castle has developed into one of the most respected chamber music series in western Rhineland-Palatinate.
The venue is the Baroque Castle Oranienstein, built by the Oranien-Nassau family in the late 17th century high above the Lahn river. Today, the complex houses a Bundeswehr property, but its state rooms are regularly available for concerts. The acoustics of the historic halls, the delicate stucco work, and the intimate atmosphere make every concert a special experience.
The 2026 program combines seven concerts with various focuses. Trio Orelon will perform works by Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms on May 30. On August 23, the acclaimed Spanish guitarist Raphaël Feuillâtre will be a guest. The Berlin Baroque Soloists will present an all-Mozart program on November 8; on December 6, Ensemble Opus 26 will conclude the season with works by Mozart and Brahms. Further dates in March, April, May, and October round off the schedule.
An organizational peculiarity arises from the military nature of the grounds: a valid identification document must be carried when attending concerts, which will be checked at the entrance. Tickets must be purchased in advance, usually between €19 and €59 depending on the concert and seating category.
The anniversary season celebrates 25 years of chamber music at Oranienstein with a particularly carefully curated program. Soloists and ensembles from several countries represent the series' high international connectivity.
The mix of string quartet, piano trio, solo recital, and baroque ensemble offers even regular attendees a varied season.
