Dancing on the Island
The Tanzinsel Festival is one of the defining open-air events for electronic music in Lower Franconia. The venue is an island in Gemünden am Main surrounded by water, where the Saale, Sinn, and Main rivers converge – in the Main-Spessart district. This extraordinary location between the river arms gives the festival its unmistakable character.
Two Stages, One Sound
The musical heart consists of two stages: the Sunset Stage and the Container Yard. Here, national and international DJs present a continuous program of House, Techno, and electronic dance music. Previous editions have featured acts such as Cloudy, Prada2000, Somewhen, and Ueberrest. The festival is open from 12 PM to 11 PM.
Cashless and Secure
The festival operates entirely cashless: payment is made via a rechargeable wristband, which can be topped up via QR code or at top-up stations using cash or card. The minimum age is 16 years (no exceptions, even when accompanied by a legal guardian). Bringing your own food and drinks is not permitted; bags are only allowed up to DIN A4 size.
Arrival and Region
As parking facilities are limited, arrival by public transport is strongly recommended; a special train to Würzburg runs afterwards. The Tanzinsel Festival has become a firm fixture in the summer calendar for the electronic music scene in the Würzburg / Main-Spessart area, combining urban club culture with the natural backdrop of the Main valley.
Tanzinsel — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Tanzinsel Festival will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12 PM to 11 PM on the island surrounded by water in Gemünden am Main (Hafenstraße). On two stages – Sunset Stage and Container Yard – national and international DJs will provide a continuous program of House, Techno, and electronic dance music. Payment is exclusively cashless via a rechargeable wristband. The minimum age is 16 years. As parking facilities are limited, arrival by train is recommended; a special train to Würzburg will run after the festival ends. Tickets are available via tanzinsel.ticket.io.
