Schlepzig and the Resort Seinerzeit

Schlepzig is an old Spreewald municipality in the Dahme-Spreewald district, nestled within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Spreewald. The village lies on the northern edge of the Upper Spreewald, where the small streams and canals transition into more open meadow landscapes. The Spreewald Resort Seinerzeit is one of the defining gastronomic and hotel establishments in the Lower Spreewald – a courtyard resort that combines old farmhouse architecture with modern tourism.

Schoberfest – Harvest and Spreewald

The Schoberfest is the resort's annual harvest and autumn festival. The term Schober, in Sorbian-Lower German usage, refers to the stacked hay or grain piles traditionally erected in the fields before the harvest was brought in – an agricultural symbol that remains culturally present in the Spreewald to this day. The festival picks up on this connection and makes it tangible for guests.

Program Character

Although the detailed program for 2026 will only be published shortly before the event, the Schoberfest traditionally follows a proven concept from previous editions:

• Spreewald Specialties: Cucumbers, linseed oil, quark, Plinse (Spreewald pancakes), Spreewald pork.
• Crafts and Tradition: Stalls with basket weaving, wood carving, Spreewald traditional costume.
• Music and Dance: Traditional live music, dancing in the courtyard.
• Punt boat trips: On the nearby stream, one of the region's landmarks.
• Children's program: Straw castle, animal feeding, craft workshop.
• Harvest Thanksgiving Elements: Binding corn sheaves, harvest crown, blessing of the harvest.

Spreewald as a Backdrop

Schlepzig is located about 80 km southeast of Berlin and is accessible via the A13 (Berlin–Dresden) in about an hour. Those arriving by train can take the RE2 to Lübben or Lübbenau and then switch to the bus. The Schoberfest is a good reason to choose the Spreewald Resort Seinerzeit for a weekend and experience the combination of courtyard gastronomy, Spreewald cuisine, and stream landscapes.
