Wormlage Park — Lusatian Cultural Landscape

Wormlage is a district of the town of Großräschen in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district. With its historic park, the village offers an atmospheric setting for the annual carriage meet — an event that has attracted equestrian sports fans and lovers of traditional horse-drawn carriages for eleven years.

11th Carriage Meet — Horse-drawn Carriages and Village Atmosphere

The 11th edition in 2026 combines classic carriage demonstrations with the elements of a village festival: a carriage parade through the park, equestrian sports demonstrations, opportunities for rides, a farm atmosphere, and regional food and drinks. The format is explicitly family-friendly — children can pet horses and ride in the carriages.

2026 Programme

The meet begins on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 6:00 PM and continues on Sunday, July 12. The exact program structure will be published by the town of Großräschen before the event — typical elements include carriage demonstrations, horse shows, a Sunday morning get-together (Frühschoppen), and a festive closing.

In the Oberspreewald-Lausitz District and the Lusatian Lake District

Großräschen is located in the Lusatian Lake District, one of Brandenburg's most exciting tourist regions. After the end of lignite mining, several large open-cast mines have formed here, which are now being developed into recreational areas. The Wormlage Carriage Meet is one of the region's traditional event formats, embedded in the rural profile between the new lake landscapes.
