Citizens' festival of the Upper Bavarian commuter town of Puchheim, west of Munich — Summer festival at the PUC cultural center with youth orchestra and clubs
Puchheim is located about 20 km west of Munich on the S 4 train line — one of the classic Munich commuter towns. With around 21,000 inhabitants, the town is one of the most populous municipalities in the Fürstenfeldbruck district. Despite its location in the Munich commuter belt, Puchheim has retained its own distinct club life — an active cultural center (the PUC cultural center), a Haus der Begegnung with intercultural engagement, sports clubs, and traditional costume clubs.
The Puchheim City Festival explicitly sees itself as a "Festival of Citizens". Unlike a classic commercial city festival, the main players here are Puchheim's clubs, schools, church communities, and the Haus der Begegnung. The city administration provides infrastructure, security, and permits — the content is shaped by civil society actors.
The PUC cultural center in Puchheim has been the central cultural meeting point of the town for decades: concert hall, theater stage, event hall, café. The lawn in front of the PUC serves as the festival grounds in summer — stages, club stalls, and food stands are set up here. This concentration on one location makes the city festival manageable and family-friendly.
A special feature of the city festival is the Puchheim Youth Orchestra, which performs annually on the lawn in front of the PUC — in 2026, the performance is scheduled from 5:30 PM to approximately 6:00 PM. Young musicians from the Puchheim school orchestra and music school present a mixed program of classical music, pop arrangements, and film scores. This performance is one of the low-threshold highlights of the festival — and an important moment to showcase Puchheim's youth culture.
The Haus der Begegnung Puchheim — an intercultural institution in the town — is regularly represented at the city festival with a stall. It showcases Puchheim's cultural diversity and is one of the town's most important civil society anchors. Participation in the city festival underscores the event's inclusive concept.
The 2026 date is announced on the municipal website (puchheim.de/puchheimer-stadtfest) and via the Haus der Begegnung Puchheim website (haus-der-begegnung-puchheim.de) — confirmed by the performance of the Puchheim Youth Orchestra on the PUC lawn on July 16, 2026, from 5:30 PM to approx. 6:00 PM.
The full program — further stage acts, club stalls, festival schedule — will be published in the weeks leading up to the festival on the city website and in the local press (Fürstenfeldbrucker Tagblatt). As the city festival typically lasts only one day (in previous years sometimes two to three days), the final format will be announced before the event.
Updates: puchheim.de/puchheimer-stadtfest. The date 16.07. is indicative and should be confirmed on puchheim.de before visiting.
Take the S-Bahn S 4 from Munich Main Station (München Hauptbahnhof) in approx. 25 minutes — stop Puchheim. By car via the A 99 or B 2, then connect to city roads. Parking available around the PUC, but limited during the festival — public transport recommended.
Free admission. Food and drinks available at the club stalls — prices vary by stall.
