About Miesenbacher Kerwe

The Kerwe Miesenbach is the annual Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Miesenbach district in the town of Ramstein-Miesenbach. Miesenbach is one of the two namesake halves of the West Palatinate twin town and looks back on a long Kerwe tradition of its own – over 175 years old. From August 28th to 31st, 2026, the four-day festival will be celebrated on the festival grounds in Miesenbach. A classic Palatinate Kerwe program with barrel tapping, dance evenings, Frühschoppen (morning pint), Kerwe parade on Sunday, and a family Monday. The local clubs organize the festival together, thus preserving the Palatinate customs that shape the district's identity.

The Kerwe Miesenbach is the traditional Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Miesenbach district in the town of Ramstein-Miesenbach. From August 28th to 31st, 2026, the four-day Kerwe will be celebrated – a central date in the annual calendar and the highlight of club life.

Miesenbach in the Twin Town

Miesenbach is one of the two namesake halves of the West Palatinate twin town Ramstein-Miesenbach. While Ramstein is internationally known for the nearby US Air Base, Miesenbach has retained its own, more village-like character. The Kerwe Miesenbach is an expression of this independent identity and consciously distinguishes itself from the larger Ramstein Kerwe.

175 Years of Kerwe Tradition

The Miesenbach Kerwe looks back on an over 175-year-old tradition. This long history is a source of the community's self-confidence and is regularly addressed in the Kerwerede (Kerwe speech). Generations of Miesenbach residents have shaped and passed on the Kerwe.

Four-Day Kerwe Rhythm

The Kerwe follows the classic Palatinate four-day rhythm: Friday opening with barrel tapping and the first dance evening, Saturday festival activities with live music, Sunday main Kerwe day with Frühschoppen (morning pint), lunch, Kerwe parade, and festival evening, Monday family day with Kerwebeerdigung (Kerwe burial) in the late evening.

Kerweborsch and Customs

The Kerweborsch – unmarried young men of the district – are organizationally involved in the Kerwe. The Kerweparrer (Kerwe pastor) delivers the humorous and satirical Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) on Sunday. The Kerwestrauß (Kerwe bouquet) is the symbol of the festival and is erected on the opening evening.

Club Life and Catering

The local clubs – sports club, fire department, music club, and others – provide the festival tent, bar, and catering. The menu features Palatinate classics: Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck), French fries. Draft beer and Palatinate wine accompany the festival weekend. On Sunday afternoon, the women of the parish serve coffee and cake.
