Three days of city festival at the palace with Dragon Boat Cup and Fête de la Musique
When Oranienburg, the district town of Oberhavel, celebrates its Stadtfest (city festival), history and water come together: the venue is the baroque Oranienburg Palace — the oldest baroque palace in the March of Brandenburg — as well as the Havel arm and the historic market square. For three days, these places are transformed into a festival mile, organized by the Oranienburg Tourist Information and the city administration.
The 2026 edition runs from Friday, June 19th, to Sunday, June 21st, 2026. The central venues are the Schlossvorplatz (main stage and festival mile), the Luise-Henriette-Steg (water stage, dragon boat course, stand-up paddle races), and the Marktplatz (funfair with rides opposite the palace). Free admission.
The highlight on Saturday is the Oranienburger Drachenboot-Cup: teams from the region paddle 250 meters on the Havel arm — loud drums, precise paddles, and spectators in dense rows on the bank make the event an emotional main scene. Stand-up paddle races complement the water program; workshops for beginners run throughout the day.
Sunday, June 21st, coincides with the international date of the Fête de la Musique. Throughout Oranienburg, bands, soloists, and choirs perform in courtyards, cafés, and squares — classical meets singer-songwriter, rock meets chanson. All concerts are free. On the palace forecourt, the city festival concludes on Sunday evening with a grand concert.
Oranienburg owes its name to Elector Princess Luise Henriette von Oranien, who had the palace built in the 17th century. Today, the city with around 47,000 inhabitants is the district capital of Oberhavel and is directly connected to Berlin via the S-Bahn S1 — making the city festival a popular day trip destination for Berliners.
Detailed save-the-date for 2026 is published on the city tourism website; the detailed program will follow in spring 2026.
Detailed program and artist list will be published in spring 2026 by the Oranienburg Tourist Information.
S-Bahn S1 from Berlin (Friedrichstraße, Brandenburger Tor, Hauptbahnhof) to the final stop Oranienburg (approx. 40–55 min), then an 8-minute walk to the palace. By car: A10 or B96. Parking in the city center is limited — train travel is recommended.
Admission to the city festival is free. Individual rides at the funfair are subject to a charge.
