Friedensplatz as a Festival Venue
Friedensplatz in Dortmund-Mitte has been one of the city's established festival venues for years – central, easy to reach, well-connected, with a size that easily accommodates medium-sized festivals. When the food trucks begin setting up on Thursday afternoon, the square is transformed within a day: power cables are laid, truck generators are running, standing tables are unpacked, the stage is assembled. By Friday afternoon, the festival is ready.
30+ Food Trucks from Around the World
The culinary offering is one of the widest in the festival landscape: Burgers in all variations (Wagyu, Pulled Pork, vegan), BBQ in American and Brazilian tradition, Greek cuisine (Souvlaki, Gyros, Baklava), vegan options (Buddha Bowls, vegan burgers, falafel), Italian pasta from a mobile wood-fired oven, Asian specialties (Bao Buns, Ramen, Vietnamese spring rolls), dessert trucks with crêpes, donuts, ice cream, churros. Those who visit the festival have a choice of over 30 concepts – that's more variety than most restaurant districts offer.
"EAT – DRINK – DANCE"
The festival motto is more than a slogan: after the street food lunch, the DJ sets begin in the afternoon, and from dusk, the energy and beats rise. Three DJ booths are spread across the square, with style changes from chill vibes in the afternoon to House and Chart beats in the evening. Those who come in the evening will find a real festival atmosphere with dance floors, cocktail stands, and light effects.
Three Days of Free Entry
The festival is completely free to enter. Those who don't eat or drink can still visit the square, listen to the stage, and soak up the festival feeling. Those who indulge pay the individual price at the truck – food truck portions typically range between €8 and €14, cocktails between €7 and €11. A deposit for cups (typically €2) is standard. JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH emphasizes that the street food concept is specifically accessible to people without a festival budget.
Where the Festival Concept Travels Next
JUST Festivals Event Media GmbH also organizes the street food concept in other NRW cities: Bochum, Essen, Wuppertal, Cologne, and more. The festival is part of a growing festival family – those who like it in Dortmund will find similar events in the region throughout the year.
Dortmund in Autumn
Anyone coming to Dortmund for the festival can extend their weekend meaningfully: the Borussia Dortmund Museum and the Signal Iduna Park are for football fans, the Dortmunder U (cultural center with Museum Ostwall), the Reinoldikirche, and the Konzerthaus Dortmund for culture enthusiasts. Westfalenpark with the Florianturm is also nearby.
