Light art and live music in the historic Schlosspark Oranienburg — Saturday, August 15, 2026, 6 PM to midnight
When the first spotlights are switched on in the Schlosspark Oranienburg at 6 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, one of North Brandenburg's special summer nights will begin. For six hours, contemporary light artists will illuminate the expansive historic park — with projected patterns, atmospheric light paths, illuminated water features, and installations along the main axes. The event runs until midnight, constantly evolving from the blue hour in the early evening to the deep night.
Alongside the light art, a diverse music program will unfold across several stages scattered throughout the park. The highlight for 2026 is the performance by STERN-COMBO MEISSEN — the art-rock legend founded in 1964, a prominent figure in the GDR and East German music scene, celebrating their 60th-anniversary tour in 2026. Additionally, other artists will perform on smaller stages in the park, a silent disco will bring dancing crowds together under the trees, and walking acts and performance artists will move freely through the grounds. The full program will be published in spring 2026 on oranienburg-erleben.de.
The baroque Schlosspark Oranienburg is one of the most significant historic parks in North Brandenburg. Laid out in the 17th century for Louise Henriette of Oranien — the Dutch princess and wife of Elector Friedrich Wilhelm — it combines French baroque geometry with English garden elements and is now a UNESCO World Heritage candidate garden. The palace itself, a baroque structure in the Dutch style, forms the central backdrop. The Schlosspark-Nacht brings this architecturally and historically significant space to life in a new way.
The Schlosspark-Nacht is designed as an open-air experience for all age groups. Children under 6 years old have free admission, as do accompanying persons for severely disabled individuals. Reduced rates apply to children aged 7 to 17, students, pensioners, and severely disabled persons. Holders of the annual park pass receive a 10% discount. The culinary offerings range from classic snacks to specialties from regional producers.
Oranienburg is located about 35 kilometers north of Berlin in the Oberhavel district. The city is directly connected to Berlin via the S-Bahn line S1, making travel to the Schlosspark-Nacht particularly easy. Visitors coming from Berlin can take the S-Bahn to Oranienburg and then walk to the palace in just a few minutes. The park is closed during the day on the event day and will reopen the following day at 12 PM — this allows for the preparation of light installations and stage setup.
On Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Schlosspark Oranienburg transforms into a six-hour open-air light installation. Contemporary light artists illuminate the historic flowerbeds, avenues, and water features. Simultaneously, concerts and performances will take place on several stages throughout the park.
The main act is the East German art-rock legend STERN-COMBO MEISSEN, performing in Oranienburg as part of their 60th-anniversary tour. Additionally, there will be a silent disco, walking acts, and a wide range of culinary offerings.
