A Weekend for Diversity, Music, and Political Dialogue

Right in the heart of Hamburg-Rothenburgsort, on the banks of the Norderelbe, the NaJe Festival annually invites you to three days of intercultural encounters in the expansive Elbpark Entenwerder. You won't experience a typical neighbourhood festival here, but rather a non-commercial gathering that makes Hamburg's African diaspora visible while inviting the entire city.

Music from Africa, the World, and Hamburg

The focus is on live concerts with artists from Africa and the international scene, complemented by DJ sets and local Hamburg acts. The programming shifts between powerful Afrobeat, Highlife, Pop, Soul, and electronic sounds, bringing together genres rarely found in one place.

Art, Handicrafts, and African Design

  • Exhibitions of contemporary African art
  • Design market with fashion and handicrafts
  • Culinary stalls from various countries on the African continent

Empowerment and Political Education

NaJe also sees itself as a platform for social issues. Workshops on migration, identity, and culture, a job coaching service for young professionals, and discussion rounds with Hamburg politicians on Sunday give the festival a clear stance. Sustainability runs as a guiding principle through the entire organization.

Families Welcome

A dedicated children's program with workshops, games, and interactive activities makes the NaJe Festival a must-attend event for the whole family. In the Hamburg-Mitte district and in the state of Hamburg, you'll find few comparable formats that consistently combine social engagement, music, and good vibes.

The 2026 program will be announced shortly before the festival. Concerts with artists from Africa and the international diaspora, DJ sets, an African design village, culinary stalls, workshops on migration and identity, and political discussion rounds on Sunday are expected.
