Cooking competition by club teams at Germany's longest graduation tower — Bad Salzelmen
The Graduation Tower Bad Salzelmen, with a length of around 320 meters, is one of the longest graduation towers in Germany — a historic structure from the 18th century, once used for salt production and now serving as open-air inhalation for the spa operations of Schönebeck-Bad Salzelmen. It is precisely here — in the spa park — that an extraordinary event takes place every year: the Culinary Nights. It is a cooking competition where two regional clubs compete against each other on two consecutive days — each supported by a professional chef.
The concept: Each club forms a team that must prepare a main course and a dessert within about two hours. Whether stamp collectors, singing societies, dance clubs, chess clubs, or track and field athletes — the club's orientation doesn't matter, the fun of cooking does. Each team is assisted by a professional chef. A jury evaluates the results, and the audience experiences the event live at the graduation tower. First place: €500 plus the trophy "Salty Cooking Spoon". Second place: €250.
Interested clubs can apply via e-ms.de or by email to [email protected]. Application documents: short club portrait + justification. Organizers are Energie Mittelsachsen GmbH (EMS) and the Solepark Schönebeck/Bad Salzelmen. EMS is the main sponsor, thus providing a welcome media and social forum for the local club scene.
Schönebeck (Elbe) is located in the Salzlandkreis district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, south of Magdeburg on the Elbe River. Bad Salzelmen is a district and a recognized brine spa town since the 19th century. The graduation tower is one of the region's tourist landmarks — combined with the spa park, the brine tower, and Bismarckstraße. The Culinary Nights are a prime example of how a historic structure becomes the setting for a contemporary club event.
A cooking competition of a special kind, set against the atmospheric backdrop of the historic graduation tower in the Bad Salzelmen spa park. On both days, a different club will compete in a cooking duel. The jury judges, the audience tastes — a great atmosphere guaranteed. First place: €500 and the "Salty Cooking Spoon". Second place: €250.
Schönebeck (Elbe) is reachable by train from Magdeburg in 15 minutes. From Schönebeck station to the Bad Salzelmen spa park is about a 30-minute walk or by bus.
