About Kloster Seeon rocks

Kloster Seeon rocks! is a young open-air festival organized by the trainees of the Kloster Seeon Culture and Education Centre in cooperation with Radio BUH. On the idyllic peninsula in the Klostersee lake — the historic Benedictine monastery of Seeon's venue — the lakeside stage transforms into a rock open-air stage for a summer evening. The festival presents regional newcomer bands and more established acts from hip-hop, rap-rock, Bavarian dialect rock, and indie. Free admission. The sixth edition takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, featuring FENZL & Bäänd, New Chemistry, and Revolution in Rock! The concept combines a youthful festival atmosphere with the historic setting of one of the most beautiful monastery complexes in the Chiemgau region.

Open Air on the Monastery Peninsula

„Kloster Seeon rockt!“ is a young festival with an unusual history: It is organized by trainees of the Kloster Seeon Culture and Education Centre — as a practical part of their training, together with the regional broadcaster Radio BUH. The festival takes place on the peninsula on the Klostersee lake, right on the shore of the historic Benedictine monastery of Seeon (founded in 994).

Newcomers and Established Acts

The musical profile is diverse: regional newcomer bands, often experiencing their first major performances here, meet established acts from hip-hop, rap-rock, reggae, indie, and Bavarian dialect rock. Genres, headliners, and order change annually. Confirmed for 2026 are FENZL & Bäänd, New Chemistry, and Revolution in Rock!.

Free Admission

One of the special features: the festival is free. It is supported by the District of Upper Bavaria and its trainees, without any admission fee. Food and drinks are paid for on-site; the musical program itself is open to all. In case of bad weather, the event will move to the monastery's concert hall.

Kloster Seeon — Benedictine Tradition Since 994

Kloster Seeon was founded in 994 as a Benedictine abbey and is now the Culture and Education Centre of the District of Upper Bavaria. The monastery peninsula with the three-towered monastery church of St. Lambert is one of the most beautiful monastery complexes in the Chiemgau region. Located in the middle of the Seeoner See lake, with views of the Chiemgau Alps, the monastery provides the backdrop for concerts, conferences, weddings, and cultural events.

Seeon-Seebruck and the Chiemgau

Seeon-Seebruck is a municipality with around 5,000 inhabitants in the Traunstein district, Upper Bavaria region, Bavaria state. It is located on the southern edge of the Chiemgau, with its own access to the A 8 motorway (Bernau / Frasdorf exit). The region is known for Lake Chiemsee, the gateway to the Alps, and its monasteries.

Kloster Seeon rocks — edition 2026

Confirmed acts for 2026: FENZL & Bäänd, New Chemistry, Revolution in Rock! — presented by the trainees of the Kloster Seeon Culture and Education Centre in cooperation with Radio BUH. In case of bad weather, the event will be moved to the concert hall.

The 2026 festival is confirmed on the official event platform hey.bayern and the Kloster Seeon event calendar. Start time: 5 p.m. The trainees organize the festival as part of their training — a rare combination of vocational training and event management.

Confirmed acts for 2026: FENZL & Bäänd, New Chemistry, Revolution in Rock!. The broad range of genres includes hip-hop, rap-rock, Bavarian dialect rock, and indie. In case of bad weather, the event will move to the monastery's own concert hall.
