Mozartwoche Kloster Seeon
Concert series around Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the former Benedictine monastery at Klostersee
2026
About Mozartwoche Seeon
Mozartwoche Seeon — edition 2026
The 2026 edition is the 30th Mozartwoche and is dedicated to a double anniversary: 30 years of Mozartwoche and the 270th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From April 5th to 12th, 2026, Kloster Seeon invites you to a festive week of concerts with accompanying events.
As always, the program combines Mozart with surprising musical approaches – from harp and piano, through the fusion of classical and rock, to a closing concert by the Mostly Mozart Trio. A guided cultural excursion to Munich and the organ center Schloss Valley complements the concert program.

Mozart and Kloster Seeon
The former Benedictine monastery Seeon is picturesquely located on a peninsula in the Klostersee lake in Chiemgau. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stayed here several times between 1767 and 1780 and donated two offertories to the convent. The Mozartwoche, which has taken place every spring since the 1990s and has become a well-established event in the Upper Bavarian classical music calendar, builds on these visits.
A Concert Series with Surprises
The festival is deliberately not a pure Mozart series: several concerts take place in the historic festival hall of the monastery, bringing together Mozart's work in surprising arrangements with other composers and genres. The spectrum ranges from chamber music on historical instruments, the connection between Mozart and folk music, to extraordinary encounters such as Zulu Music meets Mozart or Classical meets Rock.
More Than Concerts
The Mozartwoche regularly includes guided cultural excursions – for example, to Munich's Residenz and Mozart sites in the city – as well as moderated programs with anecdotes from music history. The special appeal lies in the interplay of top-class music and the unique, almost intimate atmosphere of the monastery complex. The organizer is the Kultur- und Bildungszentrum Kloster Seeon of the Bezirk Oberbayern.
