Wine Festival from July to August
Mesenich is a small but well-known wine village in the Mosel region, belonging to the Cochem collective municipality. The steep slopes around the village produce Rieslings of considerable minerality, and despite its manageable size, the village has preserved a vibrant festival culture that shapes social life throughout the year with several events.
The wine festival at the turn of July to August is the most important summer date in the festival calendar of the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Mesenich. Over three days, the festival grounds and the adjacent village center transform into a small festival mile with wine stands from local vintners, a festival tent with a stage, snack offerings, and a beer stand. The atmosphere is familiar and village-like – not a mass event, but a meeting point for locals and their guests.
Highlights of the festival weekend include the dance evenings in the festival tent with live music from regional bands, the morning pint on Sunday morning, and the family afternoon. The wines come exclusively from Mesenich vintners and their direct neighbors – from light summer Rieslings to classic Spätlesen and mature Burgundies. Culinary offerings range from typical Mosel specialties like Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck) and Bratwurst to hearty festive dishes.
Mesenich is located on the Moselsteig trail and is a popular stop for hikers. The wine festival is therefore also a welcome stop for hikers on the famous Mosel long-distance hiking trail, where they can end their day in good company.
The 2026 wine festival in Mesenich will take place from Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 2. The organizer is the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Mesenich (HuV), whose members organize the festival on a voluntary basis. The festival grounds are centrally located in the village center.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Mesenich in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
