Literature in a Concert Bunker

Few venues are as well-suited to young German-language literature as the former air-raid shelter on Feldstraße. For years, HAM.LIT — the Long Night of Young Literature and Music — has been held in the rooms of Uebel & Gefährlich, one of Hamburg's best-known concert clubs. Young authors* read on two floors simultaneously, with bands and singer-songwriters performing in between.

Young Voices of German-Language Literature

The 2026 program focuses on the most exciting emerging literature from the German-speaking world. Twelve authors* will read from novels, short prose, poetry, performance texts, and dramatic works:

  • Anne Sauer
  • Kaleb Erdmann
  • Thomas Pfenninger
  • Dita Zipfel
  • Ozan Zakariya Keskinkılıç
  • Hengameh Yaghoobifarah
  • Verena Keßler
  • Nora Gomringer
  • Clara Umbach
  • Juliane Liebert
  • Mia Oberländer
  • Julius Fischer

Music as a Break and Transition

Between readings, there will be live music: Singer-songwriter Fritzi Ernst will provide the musical framing in 2026. This follows HAM.LIT's proven concept — alternating literature and music, on the same night, in the same place.

In the Hamburg-Mitte District

Uebel & Gefährlich is located at Feldstraße 66 in St. Pauli, directly on Heiligengeistfeld. The bunker is a venue for concerts, a bar, and an art space all in one — and accessible via elevators across multiple floors. Its central location between Reeperbahn and Schanze makes it one of the city's most vibrant venues.
