North Germany's largest funfair on the Heiligengeistfeld
The Hamburger DOM is Hamburg's oldest and largest funfair – with a 700-year history dating back to the 14th century when travelling merchants sought refuge from weather and unrest in the Mariendom (St. Mary's Cathedral). Today, the DOM takes place three times a year on the Heiligengeistfeld: as the Frühlingsdom in March/April, as the Sommerdom in July/August, and as the Winterdom in November/December.
The scale of the Frühlingsdom should not be underestimated:
A special feature of recent editions is the LOOK 360° panorama platform – an approximately 71-meter-high observation tower that has been touring various German and European Volksfeste for two years. From the top, you can see St. Pauli, the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, and the Port of Hamburg – a perspective experience that no other funfair of this size offers.
Classic weekly rituals structure the DOM:
Everyone can enter the Heiligengeistfeld free of charge – you only pay for what you ride or eat. This low barrier makes the DOM the ultimate family event. A beer and a carousel ride for the children can be enjoyed for twenty to thirty euros for an evening.
The Heiligengeistfeld is located between the Reeperbahn, Hamburger Volkspark (Hamburg People's Park), and the St. Pauli stadium – one of the most central and symbolic areas of the Hanseatic city. The organiser is the Hamburg-Mitte District Office; the showmen are organised in the Landesverband d. Ambulanten Gewerbes & d. Schausteller Hamburg (State Association of the Mobile Trades & Showmen Hamburg).
The 2026 spring edition runs for four weeks and one day, from Friday, March 20, to Sunday, April 19. The Heiligengeistfeld in St. Pauli will host 253 showmen and stallholders; 55 rides (including 20 for children), 11 amusement attractions, and 187 catering establishments are confirmed.
The LOOK 360° panorama platform, an approximately 71m high observation tower, is once again a highlight. Wednesdays are Family Day with 30% off all rides and special offers at about 140 food stalls. Three fireworks displays at 10:30 PM each will crown the event: on the opening day, March 20, on Easter Sunday (April 5), and on the closing day, April 17.
U-Bahn (subway) lines U2 or U3 to Feldstraße, directly at the entrance. S-Bahn (urban rail) lines S1 or S3 to Reeperbahn, a five-minute walk. By car, it's nearly impossible due to St. Pauli parking scarcity.
Mon–Thu 3 PM–11 PM, Fri/Sat 3 PM–12 AM, Sun 2 PM–11 PM.
