About Winterdom
Winterdom — edition 2026
From November 6 to December 6, 2026, the winter edition of the Hamburger DOM will take place on the Heiligengeistfeld in St. Pauli. For 31 days, the area between Feldstraße, Reeperbahn, and the exhibition halls transforms into the largest Volksfest in Northern Germany.
In 2026, Wednesday will again be Family Day with reduced prices, and every Friday evening at 10:30 PM, the traditional fireworks will light up the Hamburg sky.
The organizer Hamburger Großveranstaltungen confirms over 200 showman businesses, including premieres of roller coasters and new themed stalls. Specific program points like the DOM parade, lantern procession, and St. Nicholas activities will be announced in late summer 2026 – but they traditionally follow the proven pattern of previous years.

The Volksfest That Connects Hamburg
Three times a year, the Heiligengeistfeld between the Reeperbahn and the exhibition halls transforms into the largest Volksfest in Northern Germany. The Hamburger DOM – Frühlingsdom in spring, Sommerdom in summer, Winterdom in late autumn – is one of Germany's most traditional folk festivals, with around 50 days of operation per year. The winter edition marks the transition into the Advent season, combining classic funfair atmosphere with Christmas decorations.
An Area as Large as 30 Football Pitches
On the Heiligengeistfeld, one of the few large open spaces in the heart of Hamburg, the Winterdom features over 200 rides, showman stalls, and food stands. Some of Europe's largest roller coasters regularly visit the DOM – including Wilde Maus, Crazy Mouse, and occasionally premium rides like the famous Höllenblitz or new world premieres that showmen configure specifically for Hamburg. The 60-meter-high Ferris wheel offers a unique view over St. Pauli, the Reeperbahn, and the distant harbour.
Family Day Wednesday
Wednesday is Family Day: reduced prices at most rides and food stalls, plus DOM-Bär Bummel as the mascot, who strolls around the grounds between 4 PM and 6 PM. Parents can let their children try out carousels, dodgems, and roller coasters here at significantly lower prices than on weekends.
Fireworks on Fridays
One of the most distinctive features of the DOM is the weekly firework display every Friday at 10:30 PM. Thousands of onlookers gather on the open spaces, on the Bavaria mole, and along Feldstraße to experience the 15-minute pyrotechnics – a Hamburg ritual for decades.
St. Pauli and the DOM
Geographically nestled between the Reeperbahn, Sternschanze station, and the exhibition halls, the Winterdom is part of St. Pauli's identity. The Hamburg-Mitte district benefits from the influx of approximately two to three million visitors per season. The event is closely intertwined with the local showman tradition and is organized by the Hamburg-Mitte district office in collaboration with the showman association.
