Ice stock sport, mulled wine, and Scandinavian Christmas huts on the forecourt of the Rindermarkthalle – St. Pauli's neighborhood market in the trendy triangle
The Rindermarkthalle on Neuer Kamp is a structured brick ensemble from the late 19th century, originally built as a central slaughter and sales hall for livestock and meat. Today, it houses an Edeka supermarket, gastronomic stands, workshops, and a farm shop. The forecourt, an open space between the hall and Neuer Kamp, serves as an urban area for markets, concerts, and in Advent, for Wintergarten St. Pauli.
Instead of typical German hut village structures, Wintergarten St. Pauli deliberately opts for Scandinavian design: light wood fronts, clean lines, plenty of natural light, large windows. This aesthetic choice defines the concept – it's not a conventional Christmas market, but a market for the neighborhood and guests from all over the world, in a Scandinavian idiom.
Traditional ice stock sport is part of the market's DNA. The season opens with the Clubkinder charity tournament, a fundraising tournament for the Hamburg Clubkinder Foundation. For the rest of the season, any group (small and large) can rent the ice stock area by the hour – a reliable guarantee of fun for company parties, friend circles, and families.
The mulled wine stands offer classic mulled wine specialties as well as non-alcoholic alternatives (hot fruit drinks, children's punch). The Holsteiner Caterjungs serve hearty grilled specialties – their stand is considered one of the best bratwurst vendors in the St. Pauli Advent scene. Crêpes (sweet and savory), crispy pizza, and occasional vegan options complete the offering.
In the St. Pauli quarter between Reeperbahn, Karoviertel, and Schanze, Wintergarten St. Pauli is a reliable Advent meeting point for Hamburg's trendy scene. Within the state of Hamburg, it complements the major tourist markets (Rathausmarkt, Spitalerstraße, Jungfernstieg) with a format explicitly designed for the St. Pauli neighborhood – a market that feels at home in its own city and shows it.
The 2026 edition will take place on the forecourt of the Rindermarkthalle St. Pauli. The concept and selection of stalls will remain largely stable compared to previous years: Scandinavian huts, ice stock sport as a trademark, mulled wine stands, Holsteiner Caterjungs, crêpes, pizza, and occasional vegan stalls.
