39 Years of City Run Tradition
The Jever-Fun-Run is one of the most traditional city runs in Lower Saxony. Since 1988, it has attracted runners from all over Germany to the Marienstadt and has become a must-attend event in the Lower Saxony running calendar.
Opening on Friday
On Friday, August 28, 2026, the running event begins with the opening ceremony on the Alter Markt. Top athletes will present themselves, organizers and the mayor will give welcome speeches, and live music will create the right atmosphere. The opening also marks the start of a series of city events.
Six Distances for Everyone
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the competition will be held. Six distances are on offer, from short distances for hobby runners to the ambitious main distance.
10 English Miles as the Main Distance
The distinctive main distance is 10 English miles (16.09 km) – an unusual but intentional distance that gives the Jever-Fun-Run its character. The route leads through the city center and outskirts and is scenically varied.
Routes Through the Marienstadt
The routes take advantage of the historic old town with the castle, brewery, and Wangerstraße. This makes the Jever-Fun-Run an experiential run that combines the city's heritage with sporting competition.
Jever-Fun-Run — edition 2026
The 2026 edition marks the 39th running of the city race. The date at the end of August is deliberately chosen: with a view to late summer, the weather is usually optimal for running competitions, and the Marienstadt shows itself at its most beautiful.
The opening on the eve of the event with top athletes and live music creates a special atmosphere and turns the pure sporting event into a city festival weekend.
