One of the most beautiful wine festivals on Lake Constance — since 1976
Anyone who has been to Hagnau on Lake Constance knows: this village has a special atmosphere. The small municipality in the Bodenseekreis is located directly on the lake, nestled among vineyards, with a view of the Säntis and the Swiss Alps. One of Germany's oldest winegrowing traditions lives on here — the Hagnau Winegrowers' Association was founded in 1881 as Germany's second oldest winegrowers' cooperative. Since 1976, the Hagnau Music Association e.V. has organized the Hagnau Wine Festival “Blasmusik am See” every year on the first weekend of August — a perfect staging of this Lake Constance identity.
The venue is the historic Alter Torkel, that old wine press house which is now the centerpiece of the Torkel meadow in the Uferpark. Located directly between the town hall and the mini-golf course, the meadow offers space for festival tent seating, a stage, and catering stands — with Lake Constance as the backdrop. Sunny summer evenings, a light breeze from the lake, the scent of tarte flambée from the wood-fired oven — the atmosphere is hard to beat. The music association itself calls it “one of the most beautiful on Lake Constance” — and they are not exaggerating.
Culinary-wise, the festival delivers what Hagnau promises: wines from the Hagnau Winegrowers' Association are served — from the smooth Müller-Thurgau and the fruity Pinot Noir Rosé to the characterful Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir red wine. Accompanying these are typical Lake Constance dishes: grilled sausages, steaks, tarte flambée with ham and onions, and Lake Constance fish (whitefish or trout, depending on the season). A non-alcoholic selection with local juices completes the range. A nice gesture: each guest receives their own unbreakable wine glass as a souvenir — typical of the festival's attention to detail.
Musically, the festival is under the motto “Blasmusik am See” — and the program delivers what it promises. Regional brass bands from the Lake Constance area and beyond perform on the festival stage, from classic Bohemian-Moravian brass music to more modern pieces. On Sunday afternoons, there is traditionally a children's program, ensuring the festival remains family-friendly. The atmosphere is classically Upper Swabian-Lake Constance: cultivated, calm, convivial.
Hagnau am Bodensee is located in the Bodenseekreis district between Friedrichshafen and Meersburg, on the northern shore of Lake Constance. The municipality, with just under 1,500 inhabitants, is one of the most beautiful wine villages on the lake. The Catholic theologian and writer Heinrich Hansjakob lived here in the 19th century as a pastor and founded the Hagnau Winegrowers' Association — a pioneering project that served as a model for many other German winegrowers' cooperatives. The Hagnau hiking trail, the idyllic town hall, and the lakeside promenade make Hagnau an ideal destination for a day trip. The wine festival is the perfect opportunity to get to know this pearl of Lake Constance.
The 2026 Hagnau Wine Festival takes place on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM at the Alter Torkel in Hagnau's Uferpark. As since 1976, the organizer is the Hagnau Music Association e.V., which remains true to its traditional motto “Blasmusik am See”.
Only wines from the Hagnau Winegrowers' Association — Germany's second oldest winegrowers' cooperative — are served. Culinary delights include tarte flambée from the wood-fired oven, grilled bratwurst, steaks, and Lake Constance fish (whitefish, depending on the day's catch). Each guest receives an unbreakable wine glass as a souvenir. The festival takes place in all weather conditions.
The exact program with band performance times and children's activities will be published by the Hagnau Music Association on musikkapelle-hagnau.de and in the event calendar of the Municipality of Hagnau.
