Traditional wine festival of the Stetten volunteer fire brigade — wines from the largest contiguous Lake Constance wine-growing region
Stetten is a small municipality on the northern shore of Lake Constance in the Bodenseekreis district (AGS 08435), nestled between the larger neighboring towns of Meersburg and Hagnau. With around 200 hectares of vineyards, Stetten is part of the largest contiguous wine-growing region on Lake Constance — Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, Weißburgunder, and the Riesling-Müller blend typical of Lake Constance are primarily grown here. The Stetten vineyards on the south-facing slope above the lake are among the highest quality in the region.
The Stettener Weinfest has been organized annually by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Stetten am Bodensee (Stetten am Bodensee Volunteer Fire Brigade) since the mid-1980s — date for 2026: Friday, August 21 (starting at 6 p.m.) and Saturday, August 22 (starting at 5 p.m.). Venue: Gösbichel, a festival site in the wine village. The wine offering: Stetten vintners will be pouring their own wines, complemented by specialties from Lake Constance cuisine.
Two days of wine festival in a village atmosphere — not a mass event, but deliberately manageable and family-friendly. The festival grounds feature wine stands from Stetten vintners, a festival gastronomy service run by the fire brigade (Maultaschen, Bratwurst, cheese platters, salads), a small stage with live music (regional bands, acoustic concerts), and dancing under the open sky on Saturday evening. Families and tourists from the surrounding Lake Constance towns mingle with locals.
The Stettener Weinfest is one of the few opportunities to taste the wines of the smaller Bodensee-Winzer (Lake Constance vintners) directly from the producer. Local varieties such as "Stettener Brünnele" or "Sängerhalde" are served by the glass. Those who want to learn about Lake Constance wine — Müller-Thurgau from a hot summer, fresh Spätburgunder, smooth Bodensee Sekt — will find an authentic encounter with the producers here.
The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Stetten am Bodensee finances a significant part of its equipment and youth work with the proceeds from the wine festival. The brigade's commitment is visible — setup, takedown, catering, and security are entirely in their hands. If you want to toast the voluntary work of the brigade with a glass of wine in hand — this is the place.
