Ten Stations, One Menu, One Beach
The Grand Schlemm is one of Germany's most extraordinary gourmet events. Instead of a classic restaurant visit, participants experience a ten-course menu as a walk: At ten stations on the beach of the Kaiserbäder Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin, the island's top chefs each serve a course of their choice. Between stations, guests walk along the promenade or take a short transfer – always with a view of the Baltic Sea.
The Best Chefs of Usedom United
The leading top hotels and restaurants of the Kaiserbäder are involved, including establishments from the Seetel Group, the Strandhotel Ostseeblick, the Upstalsboom Heringsdorf, and the Strandhotel Heringsdorf. Each chef presents a specialty, often related to regional products: Baltic Sea fish, game from the forests of Vorpommern, asparagus, and berries from the island. The stations are elegantly set – white tablecloths and candles directly on the sand at sunset.
Wine Pairing by the Vintners Themselves
The meal is accompanied by an ambitious wine pairing: At each station, invited vintners from Germany and Austria personally present their wines. Guests can talk directly with the producers – a format that clearly distinguishes the Grand Schlemm from purely gastronomic events.
Limited Places and Quick Sell-Out
The number of participants is limited – the event regularly sells out months in advance. Those who want to be there should try to get tickets early. The organizing municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf is located in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district on Germany's easternmost Baltic Sea coast. The Grand Schlemm is considered the perfect season opener for the gourmet season on Usedom.
