Shooting Tradition in Tecklenburger Land

The Schützenverein Halverde e.V. is a traditional shooting club in the Halverde hamlet, a district of the municipality of Hopsten in the Steinfurt district. Like many shooting clubs in the Münsterland and Tecklenburger Land regions, it organizes its Schützenfest with active participation from the village community, the parish, and surrounding clubs.

Three Days of Schützenfest 2026

In 2026, the festival runs from July 19th to 21st. The program follows the classic Münsterland schedule:

• Sunday, July 19, 2026 — Kick-off with bird shooting and determination of the new Schützenkönig (shooting king)
• Monday, July 20, 2026 — King's reception, festival procession, festival ball
• Tuesday, July 21, 2026 — Festival conclusion with Frühschoppen (morning pint)

Halverde — A Hamlet with its Own Identity

The Halverde hamlet is located north of the municipality of Hopsten, in the western Tecklenburger Land. Like all hamlets in the region, Halverde has its own identity — its own Catholic parish, its own clubs, its own festivals. In addition to the Schützenfest, the Schützenverein also organizes the Halverder Kubb Tournament (the 4th edition takes place on May 30, 2026) — an example of the close connection between shooting club activities and other club life.

Hopsten — Municipality in Western Münsterland

Hopsten is a municipality in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia, in western Münsterland, near the Dutch border. The municipality consists of several hamlets (Halverde, Schale, among others) and is characterized by agriculture — a typical Münsterland cultural landscape with a dense club structure.
