Nature experience program above the treetops in the Bavarian Forest National Park
The Bayerischer Wald Treetop Walk near Neuschönau is one of Lower Bavaria's most famous attractions. The barrier-free wooden walkway leads through the treetops up to the 44-meter-high treetop tower, offering a wide view over the Bavarian Forest National Park to Lusen and into the Bohemian Forest. Throughout the year, the operator Erlebnis Akademie AG offers a diverse program of events that goes far beyond just visiting the walkway.
For the first time, in cooperation with the Volkshochschule Freyung-Grafenau, yoga, Pilates, and back exercise courses will be offered high above the forest floor from June to August. Gentle exercise in the special atmosphere of the treetops combines mindfulness and nature experience.
In cooperation with Pro Nationalpark Freyung-Grafenau, there are guided tours such as the "Legendary Treetop Walk," which brings myths and legends of the Bavarian Forest to life, as well as sunset tours that combine the evening sky with insights into astronomy. Full moon nights and special nature days like the Bee Days round off the annual program.
The Treetop Walk is located on the edge of Germany's first national park, the Bavarian Forest National Park, in the Freyung-Grafenau district of Lower Bavaria. With the adjacent animal enclosure and the Haus zur Wildnis (House of the Wilderness), Neuschönau is a central starting point for experiencing nature in this original forest landscape on the border with the Czech Republic.
The 2026 event program at the Bayerischer Wald Treetop Walk offers a dense schedule throughout the season. For the first time, in cooperation with the VHS Freyung-Grafenau, yoga, Pilates, and back exercise courses will be held above the treetops from June to August.
For families, the Treetop Workshop and Forest Magic with magician Waltini (Pentecost and summer holidays) will take place during the Bavarian school holidays. The Forest Olympics with game stations, legendary guided tours, sunset and full moon hikes, as well as the Bee Days in early June, complement the program. The highlight for families is the Family Day on August 23rd with crafting, games, and a free children's tour.
