About Gebersdorfer Kärwa
Gebersdorfer Kärwa — edition 2026
The Gebersdorfer Kärwa 2026 will be hosted for four days by the association Gebersdorfer Kärwa e.V. The opening on Thursday, June 25th, begins with a World Cup party and the traditional beer tapping at 7 PM. On Friday, the Kärwa parade winds through the village, with the money bag washing at the fountain being a humorous program point. Saturday is dedicated to the Kärwabaum: raising, decorating, and live bands in the evening.
The highlight is Sunday with a tent service, lunch with brass music, a children's program, and the traditional Betzentanz performed by young Gebersdorf residents. The festival weekend concludes with fireworks. Program subject to change – the Kärwa association publishes current details on gebersdorfer-kaerwa.de.

Franconian Kärwa in the Heart of Nuremberg
The Gebersdorfer Kärwa is a firm fixture among the more than two dozen Nuremberg Kirchweihen celebrated annually between April and September in various districts. Gebersdorf, formerly an independent village and since 1923 a district in western Nuremberg, has preserved its Franconian festival tradition: four days of festival tent, dance floor, catering, and customs. The organizer is Gebersdorfer Kärwa e.V., an association founded specifically for the Kärwa, which puts together a volunteer program every year.
Kärwabaum, Parade, and Betzentanz
The Gebersdorfer Kärwa follows the classic schedule of a Franconian Kerwa: Kärwa opening on Thursday with a beer tapping, Kärwa parade on Friday through the village with the traditional money bag washing at the fountain, tree climbing on Saturday, and the grand Betzentanz on Sunday. The festival concludes with a tent service, lunch with brass music, a children's program, and fireworks. This combines Franconian culture with community life in a large urban city.

Nuremberg's Kirchweih Landscape
With over 25 district Kirchweihen, Nuremberg boasts one of Bavaria's most concentrated festival landscapes. Well-known sister festivals to the Gebersdorfer Kärwa include the Almoshofer Kärwa, the Katzwanger Kärwa with its famous raft race, the Großgründlacher Kärwa, and the Kärwa St. Johannis. For those seeking an authentic Franconian Kerwa experience within an urban context, Gebersdorf offers a charming blend of village sociability and proximity to the city – right in the heart of Bavaria, in the independent city of Nuremberg.
