Open-air brass music evening with baroque closing fireworks in the Faber-Castell Castle Park
For generations, Stein near Nuremberg has been the home of the Faber-Castell pencil manufactory – one of the most famous stationery dynasties in the world. The New Faber-Castell Castle and the extensive castle park shape the town's cityscape. Once a year, the town of Stein, in cooperation with the noble family, opens this park for an open-air concert that is one of the most emotional summer events in the region.
On stage is the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Town of Stein, which presents a varied program of classical music, film scores, concert marches, and symphonic wind music. The acoustic effect in the open park, the summer evening backdrop, and the catering in the greenery make the evening a rich experience of music, conviviality, and landscape.
The highlight of each year is the grand baroque closing fireworks, which musically concludes the evening. As the last notes fade in the twilight, the fireworks launch above the castle – a classic "picnic concert" evening straight out of a picture book.
Stein is located directly west of Nuremberg in the Middle Franconian district of Fürth. The Faber-Castell Castle Park, with its New and Old Castles, historic buildings, and gardens, is usually only accessible to a limited extent; the castle concert is one of the few occasions when the park is opened to a large audience.
The 2026 edition of the Castle Concert will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the Faber-Castell Castle Park. It starts at 6:00 PM and the program runs until approximately 10:30 PM, including the final fireworks display.
The Symphonic Wind Orchestra of the Town of Stein will perform a varied program in the park. Catering with food and drinks will be available; guests should bring their own blankets and folding chairs.
The event is free to enter, and donations are requested to support the musical work.
The detailed concert program will be published by the City of Stein and the orchestra shortly before the event.
Stein is located directly next to Nuremberg, accessible by subway (U1 to Nürnberg-Stein line) and bus, or by car via the A73 (Stein exit) or the B14. The castle park is located at Nürnberger Straße 2, within walking distance of the Steiner Marktplatz.
Free admission. Donations are requested.
