A week of culinary spring discoveries in the Baltic Sea resort
Spring on Rügen means: the sea is still calm, the days are getting longer, and the first summer guests mingle with the locals. It is precisely during this transitional period that the Gast-Geber-Woche Göhren takes place, a culinary and cultural event series organized by the Göhren Tourist Board together with the resort's restaurateurs.
Around ten restaurants participate in the week, each putting together its own three-course menu. These include, among others, Tennisstübchen, Landhaus, Räucherei, Kostbar, Übersee, To Grik, Friesenstube, Kapadokia, and Caprice. The menus are available throughout the week at fixed prices – a concept that makes it easy to compare and try out several establishments.
Göhren is located on the Mönchgut peninsula, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the Vorpommern-Rügen district. The combination of steep cliffs, beech forests, thatched-roof houses, and spa architecture makes the town one of the most distinctive destinations on the German Baltic Sea coast. During the Gast-Geber-Woche, the calm spring weather is ideal for leisurely walks between meals – perfect for lovers of culinary mini-trips.
The event is organized by the Ostseebad Göhren Tourist Board (Poststraße 9) in collaboration with the participating restaurateurs. For events with limited seating, advance registration at the respective restaurants is required.
Participating restaurants include Tennisstübchen, Landhaus, Räucherei, Kostbar, Übersee, To Grik, Friesenstube, Kapadokia, and Caprice. Each establishment will create its own menu, served throughout the week. Reservations are recommended, especially for the happy hour evenings. The closing street festival in Poststraße will feature live music, food stalls, and entertainment right outside the restaurants.
Menu prices are set by the participating restaurants and can be found in the Göhren Tourist Board's program booklet. The street festival on April 19th is free to enter.
Train: Bergen auf Rügen station, then take the narrow-gauge railway »Rasender Roland« or a bus to Göhren.
Car: A 20 to Stralsund, then continue via Rügendamm and the B 196.
For three-course menus, reserve a table directly at the restaurant; for events with limited seating, register via the restaurants or the tourist information office.
Try two or three establishments over the course of the week – the restaurants pride themselves on their unique offerings. Overnight stays in Göhren or the neighboring towns of Sellin and Baabe are recommended.
