A Brewery in the Teutonic Order Residence Castle
The Fürst Carl Castle Brewery Ellingen is one of the most extraordinary breweries in Franconia: it is located directly in the castle of the former Teutonic Order residence Ellingen, one of the most important baroque castles in Southern Germany. The brewery has borne the name of the House of Wittgenstein-Berleburg since 1990, whose family head Carl Friedrich zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg took over the castle ownership.
Beer Festival in the Courtyard
The central venue of the beer festival is the Ehrenhof – the representative courtyard of the castle, open to the castle forecourt, framed by baroque facades. Guests sit under the open sky at long beer garden benches, cover bands play on a mobile stage, and the brewery's kitchen serves classic Franconian specialties.
Four Days of Beer
All Fürst Carl specialties from the brewery are freshly tapped: the unpasteurized natural cloudy beer, the smooth Edel-Pils, the Franconian Märzen, and seasonal specials. The variety of beers also makes the festival a tasting occasion for beer lovers from all over Middle Franconia.
Ellingen – Baroque and Beer
Ellingen, a small town in the Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen, has been characterized by two things since secularization: the baroque castle and the brewery that operates within it. The beer festival combines these two pillars of identity – a summer event that has followers far beyond the town limits of Ellingen.

Four Days of Beer Festival in the Teutonic Order Residence
In 2026, the Fürst Carl Castle Brewery once again invites you to the courtyard of its castle. From July 3rd to 6th, the baroque courtyard transforms into a Franconian feast table – bar, stage, and snack stands, all in the unique setting of the former Teutonic Order residence.
Beer from the House Master Brewer
Freshly tapped are the classic Fürst Carl specialties: Edel-Pils, Naturtrübes, Märzen, plus seasonal special brews. The brewery emphasizes that every beer served comes directly from the brewery's cellar – no transport, no storage in festival tent tanks.
