One Region, One Month
The European Days of Culture is a festival series held annually at the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin-Dahlem since 2004. Each edition is dedicated to a single European region or a clearly defined cultural area. For 2026, the MEK's curatorial team has chosen Tyrol – the Austrian federal state between the Inn and the Brenner.
Concerts, Films, Readings, Tastings
The program follows a proven logic: concerts with Tyrolean musicians from classical music, folk music, and the young Innsbruck pop and folk scene, film screenings in cooperation with the Filmclub Tirol, readings by Tyrolean authors, lectures on history, identity, and agriculture, plus tastings of Tyrolean cuisine (Tyrolean dumplings, speck, cheese, wine, schnapps).
Accompanying Exhibition "The Mountains of Tyrol"
In parallel, the MEK is showing an extensive accompanying exhibition titled "The Mountains of Tyrol". The exhibition runs from July 29, 2026, to April 25, 2027, and examines the relationship of Tyroleans to their mountain landscape – economically, culturally, mythologically, and touristically.
Cooperation and Funding
The organizers are the MEK together with the Austrian Cultural Forum Berlin, the Berlin Section of the German Alpine Club, Tirol Werbung, and the Friends of the MEK Association. This makes the festival both an in-house educational format for the museum and a cultural-diplomatic bridge between Berlin and Innsbruck.
