Berlin's Museum Night, focusing on the houses in Dahlem, Wannsee, and Zehlendorf
The Lange Nacht der Museen Berlin was invented by Kulturprojekte Berlin in 1997 and is now the capital's most important regular museum event. With just one ticket, around 75 museums, collections, and cultural-historical sites throughout Berlin are accessible from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. – including special programs, concerts, readings, guided tours, workshops, and performances.
The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district in southwest Berlin showcases its richest cultural-historical side on this evening. Several important institutions are concentrated in the Dahlem district: the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (Arnimallee 25), the Brücke-Museum with its collection of German Expressionists, the Alliiertenmuseum as a memorial site of the Cold War. In the Zehlendorf district, the Haus am Waldsee serves as a gallery for contemporary art, and in the Wannsee district, the Liebermann-Villa with Max Liebermann's summer house and garden.
A specially established BVG shuttle bus connects the institutions. This allows visitors to combine several museums in one evening – for example, MEK, Brücke, and Liebermann-Villa, or Alliiertenmuseum, Haus am Waldsee, and Domäne Dahlem. Waiting times are mainly at the most visited institutions, but the atmosphere in the nocturnal rooms is exceptional.
Many museums open normally closed storage areas, offer exclusive guided tours, and invite musicians, dancers, or performance artists. Family programs take place in the early evening hours; from 10 p.m. onwards, the tone shifts – concerts, readings, cocktails in the museum café. The organizer is Kulturprojekte Berlin in cooperation with the Berlin museums.
The 2026 edition of the Lange Nacht der Museen Berlin takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The institutions are open from 6 PM to 2 AM. With a single ticket, around 75 museums, collections, and cultural-historical sites are accessible.
In the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, among others, the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (Arnimallee 25, Dahlem), the Brücke-Museum (Bussardsteig 9, Dahlem), the Haus am Waldsee (Argentinische Allee 30, Zehlendorf), the Liebermann-Villa am Wannsee (Colomierstraße 3, Wannsee), and the Alliiertenmuseum (Clayallee 135, Dahlem) will open. A BVG bus shuttle connects the participating institutions.
The complete 2026 program, featuring all 75 institutions and special events, will be published in late July 2026 at langenachtdermuseen.berlin. Ticket sales start in early August 2026.
