Genshagen — Castle district with history

Genshagen is located immediately south of Berlin's city limits, in the Teltow-Fläming district. It is home to the Genshagen Foundation, which has served as a German-French-Polish meeting center since 1995 and curates Genshagen Castle. The village itself has retained its character — small houses, a village square, and a strong community structure. The annual village festival is the social anchor of this community.

The village festival typically runs from 3 PM to 11 PM. A classic mix: a stage with live music (local bands, tribute acts), a tombola with prizes from regional businesses, a bouncy castle, a children's program with craft and game stations, and food stalls offering regional specialties and beer. In the evening, there's dancing for all generations — a proven format that brings young and old together.

Ludwigsfelde and Teltow-Fläming

Ludwigsfelde, a medium-sized town 25 km south of Berlin, is a modern industrial city (Mercedes-Benz, IFA), but its districts have preserved their village structures. Genshagen is one of the districts where village community, proximity to the city, and cultural prestige converge. The village festival is a meeting point for families from the southern commuter belt of Berlin.

For those already in the region, combine your visit to the festival with a walk through Genshagen Castle Park or a trip to Schönefeld Airport (BER). Take the RE3 or RE7 train from Berlin for a 25-minute journey to Ludwigsfelde, then take a bus or a short car ride to Genshagen.
