Annual city festival on the Rathausplatz of Ludwigsfelde
LuFest is the big annual summer festival of the city of Ludwigsfelde in the Teltow-Fläming district. Ludwigsfelde – one of Brandenburg's largest cities with around 26,000 inhabitants – is an unusually young city: founded in 1936 as a company settlement for the Daimler-Benz aircraft engine plant, Ludwigsfelde only received its city rights in 1965. Today, the city is primarily known as an industrial center for Mercedes-Benz (Sprinter plant) and MTU Aero Engines.
LuFest takes place annually on the central Rathausplatz – a spacious city center in front of the town hall built in 1990. In 2026, the festival runs from June 21st to 23rd. For two to three days, the square transforms into a festival mile featuring:
The organizer is the City of Ludwigsfelde – the exact program for 2026 (bands, acts) will be published by the city administration in spring 2026. As in previous years, a mix of pop, schlager, and rock covers, as well as sing-along acts, is expected. Traditionally, LuFest concludes with fireworks, setting the festival grounds and the nearby residential area alight with atmosphere.
Ludwigsfelde is conveniently located on the A10 (Berliner Ring) and the B101, about 35 km south of Berlin Mitte. The Mercedes-Benz site in Ludwigsfelde employs several thousand people and produces vans (Sprinter). The MTU Aero Engines site maintains engines for civil and military aircraft. Both companies act as sponsors at LuFest.
Admission to LuFest is free. It's about a 10-minute walk from Ludwigsfelde station (RE line Berlin–Jüterbog) to the Rathausplatz. Car parking is available around the city center.
