Summer Evening at Goldberger See
Goldberg is located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, directly on the shore of Goldberger See. The town's bathing beach is the tourist and social center in summer: fine sandy beach, large sunbathing lawn, good swimming opportunities for families. On a Saturday in early July, the city of Goldberg organizes the Strandfest — a cozy summer evening where residents, island guests, and weekend visitors celebrate summer together.
The Format: Beach, Music, and Culinary Delights
The Strandfest begins at 6 PM — perfect sundowner time at Goldberger See. A small open-air stage is set up on the beach, with regional cover bands and dance bands providing the atmosphere. Visitors sit on their own blankets, in folding chairs, or simply in the sand. Food trucks and club stalls offer bratwurst, fish rolls (smoked fish from Goldberger See!), fries, crêpes, ice cream, and cool drinks — draft beer, wine, lemonades, and Aperol Spritz.
Atmosphere and Significance
The Strandfest is smaller and cozier than the Stadtfest (at the end of July) or the Amtsrock Festival (in June). It's more like a family reunion for the people of Goldberg and guests from the surrounding holiday homes on the lake. Children play in the sand and in the shallow lake water, while adults enjoy a beer with live music. In clear weather, the view extends across the calm Goldberger See to the opposite shore; at sunset, the water's surface is illuminated in orange-gold.
Significance in the Goldberg Summer
The Strandfest is part of a series of summer events organized by the city of Goldberg at the bathing beach. Together with Rock am Strand (August) and the Amtsrock Festival (June), it forms the musical summer program directly on the lake. The organizer is the city of Goldberg in cooperation with local clubs and catering businesses.
