Rock Evening on the Goldberg Bathing Beach
Goldberg is located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, directly on Goldberger See — one of the most beautiful lakes in the Mecklenburg Lake District. In summer, the Goldberg bathing beach is the small town's tourist center: fine sand, shallow entry, large sunbathing lawn with swimming opportunities for families and water sports enthusiasts. In midsummer, the town of Goldberg organizes the Rock am Strand evening here, an open-air concert evening on a Saturday in August.
Format and Atmosphere
The concept is deliberately accessible: an open-air stage is set up on the beach, and the audience sits on their own blankets, in folding chairs they brought, or simply on the sand. The concert starts at 6 p.m. — perfect for a sundowner mood: first the setting sun over the lake, then rock 'n' roll into the night. The town of Goldberg provides catering (sausages, fries, cold draft beer, wine, soft drinks for children).
Musical Focus
Rock am Strand programs classic rock with regional acts: cover bands and tribute bands, local rock formations from Mecklenburg, occasionally singer-songwriters with rock programs. Unlike the larger, multi-day Amtsrock Festival (with punk rock, ska, indie), Rock am Strand focuses on accessible mainstream rock — family-friendly, intergenerational.
Significance for Goldberg
Rock am Strand is part of a series of summer events organized by the town of Goldberg that make the bathing beach on Goldberger See an experience for residents and guests of the region. Together with the Strandfest (early July), the Stadtfest (late July), and the Amtsrock Festival (June), it forms the small town's summer music program.
