A Classic Village Festival in the Danube Valley

Oberachdorf is one of the districts of the town Wörth a.d.Donau in the district of Regensburg – a small Danube village with a historic parish church and the tradition that club life is supported by the Volunteer Fire Brigade. The annual Dorffest of the FF Oberachdorf is an expression of this club culture: a simple, heartfelt summer festival, organized by active and passive members of the brigade, together with the village club.

Marquee, Catering, Good Atmosphere

The venue is the Feuerwehrgerätehaus Oberachdorf (Fire Station Oberachdorf) at Oberachdorfstraße 9a – with the marquee set up in front, beer tables outdoors, a food service counter, and a beer tap. The menu features the classics of Bavarian club festivals: Bratwurst and sauerkraut, Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle), potato salad, coffee, and homemade cakes. Drinks are from the regional brewery.

Atmosphere and Encounter

The village festival doesn't have a big name, no famous bands, no tourist marketing – and that's exactly what makes it authentic. Those who come from the Danube valley come for the encounter with the residents of Oberachdorf, for a cozy evening with cool beer, to support the Volunteer Fire Brigade (the proceeds go towards equipment and village activities). Live music or a DJ in the evening are part of the standard program.

Wörth is located on the right bank of the Danube, about 30 km east of Regensburg in the district of Regensburg in the Upper Palatinate. The town has about 4,500 inhabitants and several districts, including Oberachdorf. More than 30 clubs shape social life – from the traditional costume club and marksmen's clubs to the four volunteer fire brigades in the districts.
