Carrying Culture — A Town Society Creates the Program

Kultur in Wörth — K.i.W. for short — is the cultural program of the Lower Bavarian town of Wörth an der Donau. Unlike many small towns where cultural events are sporadic and lack a curatorial line, K.i.W. offers a continuous, professionally organized concert and event series — with a remarkably broad program.

Three Venues, One Town

The program is spread across three venues, each with its own character. The Bürgersaal at Ludwigstraße 7 is the main stage for piano recitals, tribute concerts, and larger events. The Schlosskeller at Schlossberg 1 — beneath the historic Wörth Castle — offers a rock ambiance for stoner rock, metal, and similar concerts. The Pfarrkirche St. Petrus at Kirchplatz 1 is the venue for choir and church music concerts.

Program Highlights 2026

The 2026 season has some highlights in store. May 17th: Sternschnuppe concert for children (children's concert for families). June 27th: Heavy Goat in the Schlosskeller — Stoner Rock, Metal, Grunge, and Punk in the town's most intimate concert setting. July 11th and 12th: Thomas Haberlah with two piano concerts in the Bürgersaal — classical music with contemporary elements. September 18th: Da Franze plays The Beatles — hits and rarities in a unique tribute show. October 11th, 5:00 PM: Cantaloupes, led by Klaus Wenk, with the program "All Languages of the World" — choral music in many languages, an international concept in the parish church.

Monthly Dance Circle as a Supplement

A special feature of K.i.W. is the Wörther Tanzkreis (Wörth Dance Circle), a monthly participatory dance evening in the Bürgersaal — usually on Mondays, 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Dates in 2026: July 6th, July 27th, August 3rd, September 21st. A low-threshold event that connects club life with the Bürgersaal and cultivates dancing as a social cultural technique — from folk dance to standard dances.

Wörth an der Donau

Wörth an der Donau is a small town in the district of Regensburg, picturesquely located on the southern bank of the Danube. With Wörth Castle, the baroque Pfarrkirche St. Petrus, and the historic town center, it offers an attractive backdrop — and the K.i.W. program series turns this backdrop into a culturally active place.
