One night, one city — museums, galleries, studios, and cultural venues open their doors
Leverkusen is located between the metropolises of Cologne and Düsseldorf — a city often labeled as the "Bayer city," yet it possesses its own diverse art scene. The Leverkusen Art Night makes this visible once a year: for one evening, all relevant art venues open their doors, from the major museums to private studios. 2026 marks the 22nd edition — an established cultural event that is part of the city's cultural identity.
From 6:00 PM to 11:59 PM, museums, galleries, private studios, cafés, clubs, and cultural venues will simultaneously animate the Leverkusen city area. The opening ceremony traditionally takes place in the Spiegelsaal (Mirror Hall) of Schloss Morsbroich — the city's main museum. From there, the program radiates outwards across the city.
The Art Night is intentionally multidisciplinary: Visual Arts (painting, sculpture, installation), Music (classical, jazz, electronic, singer-songwriter), Literature (readings, poetry slam), and Theater (performance, dance). In the studios, visitors can speak directly with the artists — a rarity in the art world.
A mobile app (https://app.kunstnacht-leverkusen.de/) helps with navigation between locations. Additionally, five shuttle buses run every 30 to 60 minutes between the main venues — free for visitors. This makes it possible to experience 5–8 locations in one night.
Main partners are Sparkasse Leverkusen, EVL (Energieversorgung Leverkusen), GBO (Bauverein Opladen), and wupsi (public transport). This partner structure supports the free event — no admission fee, no minimum consumption.
With 165,000 inhabitants, Leverkusen is a medium-sized city in the Rhineland, located on the right bank of the Rhine between Cologne and Düsseldorf. Characterized by the chemical industry (Bayer Group) and football (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), but also by a growing art scene. The Art Night is its most important cultural evening.
The 22nd Art Night 2026 continues the tradition: all of Leverkusen becomes an art mile, with free admission and shuttle service between all locations.
Detailed program will be published mid-2026 at lust-auf-leverkusen.de/kunstnacht/.
