What it's about

The Eggesin Brennholztag is firmly anchored in the event calendar of the city of Eggesin and is considered one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's most original Christmas markets. Instead of classic mulled wine stands, the focus here is on the regional raw material wood: wood crafts, wood decorations, small wood art, firewood itself, and wooden toys characterize the market scene on the Vierseitenhof at Stettiner Straße 1a, right next to the town hall.

Highlight: The Wood Competition

The actual highlight is the now legendary competition between three teams: the Bundeswehr's partner company from the Eggesin garrisons, the Eggesin City Council, and the City Administration. Speed, ingenuity, and physical strength are judged – a humorous, loud show moment that mobilizes many spectators every year.

Atmosphere and Program

Around this, the Brennholztag is a classic Advent festival: colorful market activities, creative offerings, a children's cinema, hands-on and craft activities, bratwurst, mulled wine, and warm food. The festival grounds on the Vierseitenhof are manageable, the atmosphere is familiar – in the style of a neighborhood festival with its own unique touch.

Regional Context

Eggesin is located in the southeasternmost part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The city was a Bundeswehr garrison town for decades (and before that, NVA), and the cooperation with the partner company is part of this special identity. With the Brennholztag and the Blueberry Festival in summer, Eggesin maintains two distinct festival traditions that clearly set themselves apart from the region's standard event calendar.
