The actual highlight is the now legendary competition between three teams: the Bundeswehr's partner company from the Eggesin garrisons, the Eggesin City Council, and the City Administration. Speed, ingenuity, and physical strength are judged – a humorous, loud show moment that mobilizes many spectators every year.

Regional Context
Eggesin is located in the southeasternmost part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The city was a Bundeswehr garrison town for decades (and before that, NVA), and the cooperation with the partner company is part of this special identity. With the Brennholztag and the Blueberry Festival in summer, Eggesin maintains two distinct festival traditions that clearly set themselves apart from the region's standard event calendar.

The 2026 edition of the Brennholztag is planned as an annual Advent festival on the Vierseitenhof, Stettiner Straße 1a. The festival traditionally takes place at the start of the Advent season – for years, it has combined classic Christmas market charm with the special Eggesin touch centered around the regional raw material wood.
The highlight in 2026 will again be the competition between teams from the Bundeswehr's partner company, the Eggesin City Council, and the City Administration in wood processing. Expect colorful market activities, a children's cinema, craft and hands-on activities, bratwurst, and mulled wine.
The exact date for 2026 (usually Saturday of the first Advent weekend) will be officially published shortly before the event by the city of Eggesin and on the event portal of the Amt am Stettiner Haff.
