Summer market festival centered around the blueberry in the Uecker-Randow region
Eggesin is located on the Stettiner Haff in the extreme southeast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The region was historically one of the most important blueberry cultivation areas in Germany, and with the Blaubeerfest, the town has been cultivating its own unique tradition around this berry for over twenty years – a contrast to the "classic" folk festivals of the region (Schützenfest, Stadtfest).
The four-sided farm at the Blaubeerscheune transforms into a lively marketplace on a Saturday in July: a Pomeranian farmers' market with natural products and handicrafts, regional specialties, live music on stage, a children's program, and the official appearance of the reigning Blueberry Queen. Every two years, a new Blueberry Queen is elected as part of the festival – a local event with high symbolic value.
The Blaubeerfest is considered a hidden gem among connoisseurs of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern folk festival scene. It is deeply rooted in the town of Eggesin and part of a broader identity offering between the Blaubeerscheune, farm shop, and festival calendar. Its location on the Stettiner Haff and in the Uecker-Randow region shapes the festival with a rural, tranquil atmosphere, far from the large tourist crowds of the Baltic Sea coast.
The Blaubeerfest is organized by the City of Eggesin together with the Blaubeerscheune. It is part of the city's event calendar and is in line with other Eggesin festivals (Randow Festival Days in September, Firewood Day in winter).
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Eggesin will celebrate its 22nd Blaubeerfest at the four-sided farm, Stettiner Straße 1. The festival begins in the morning with the opening of the market and lasts throughout the day.
The program includes a Pomeranian farmers' market with natural products and handicrafts, stalls with regional specialties featuring blueberries (jams, liqueurs, baked goods), live music on stage, and a children's program with games and hands-on activities. The reigning Blueberry Queens will be present and will give official greetings.
The festival is organized by the City of Eggesin in collaboration with the Blaubeerscheune and is part of the city's 2026 summer calendar.
