Neighbourhood festival with Elbe river view between Bahnhofstraße and Elbchaussee
Blankenese has always been Hamburg's maritime flagship. The district in Altona, with its stairways on the Elbe slope, captain's houses, and hotels, is one of the Hanseatic city's most sought-after addresses. Once a year, Blankenese opens up to the entire western part of Hamburg with the street festival – a traditional neighbourhood festival that turns Blankeneser Bahnhofstraße into a festival mile up to Elbchaussee.
Around 90 stalls stretch over several hundred metres:
The organiser is BLANKENESE Interessen-Gemeinschaft e.V., the association of local business people and residents who have represented the neighbourhood for decades. The street festival is the association's most important event and, at the same time, an advertising platform for the Bahnhofstraße retailers. Proceeds partly flow to local projects and initiatives.
S-Bahn lines S1 or S11 to Blankenese – the festival mile starts right in front of the station on Blankeneser Bahnhofstraße. By car via Elbchaussee, parking spaces are scarce in the neighbourhood; public transport is recommended. Admission to the street festival is free. The festival will take place even in bad weather.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Blankeneser Bahnhofstraße up to Elbchaussee will transform into an eleven-hour festival mile from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Around 90 stalls, several stages, children's and sports programmes, and numerous food trucks offer a varied programme – with the maritime flair that characterises Blankenese.
The organiser is BLANKENESE Interessen-Gemeinschaft e.V. – the association of local business people and residents of the neighbourhood. Free admission.
The Blankeneser Straßenfest 2026 runs on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Blankeneser Bahnhofstraße up to Elbchaussee.
