Kirchheim Grape Press Festival

More than half a century of tradition

As autumn arrives and the grapes are harvested, the music association „Harmonie“ Kirchheim am Neckar invites you to its traditional Grape Press Festival. First held in 1972, the festival has become an integral part of the association's life in the Ludwigsburg district over more than five decades. The venue is the Alte Kelter – that historic press house where the grapes from the Kirchheim vineyards were pressed for generations and which today forms the cultural center of WeinKultur Kirchheim.

Wine, Brass Music, and Socializing

The concept is wonderfully simple and precisely why it's so popular: good wines from the steep slopes along the Neckar, accompanied by brass music from the in-house music association and guest bands, grilled specialties, and a relaxed atmosphere in the courtyard and cellars of the Alte Kelter. The wines come from WeinKultur Kirchheim, which cultivates around three hectares of vineyards and produces varieties like Regina, Rosa, and Roberto. Those interested can have the vintners explain what's behind the labels and how viticulture on the steep slopes of the Neckar works.

Community Festival with Heart

The Grape Press Festival embodies classic association life in Baden-Württemberg: the musicians of the association work behind the counter themselves, serving wine, grilling sausages, and creating the atmosphere with brass music. The proceeds go towards the association's activities – especially the youth band and music education for Kirchheim's children. By attending, you directly support the village's culture. An evening lantern parade or a small wine village program may round off the festival depending on the year.

Discover Kirchheim am Neckar

Kirchheim am Neckar is located in the Ludwigsburg district in northern Württemberg, nestled between vineyards, Neckar river bends, and the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park. The community is one of Württemberg's northernmost wine-growing municipalities and belongs to the Württemberg wine region, whose vines are predominantly found on steep south and southwest-facing slopes. The Grape Press Festival is the ideal opportunity to get to know this region and its wine culture – away from the big wine festivals, but with all the more character.
