12th Black Forest Rally for Connoisseurs — Classic Cars over 500 Kilometers through the Northern Black Forest
The Baiersbronn Classic is one of Southern Germany's most renowned classic car rallies — and, in contrast to pure sports rallies, is clearly positioned as an event for connoisseurs. The organizer is Baiersbronn Touristik, with the support of the "Three-Star Region" Baiersbronn (one of the world's highest densities of top gastronomy stars). The 12th edition, from September 24th to 26th, 2026, will lead participants with their historic vehicles through the highlands, passes, and gorges of the Northern Black Forest.
Vehicles built before 1979 are eligible to participate. The total route is around 500 kilometers, spread over three stages. The route profile leads over typical Black Forest passes — Ruhestein, Schliffkopf, Kniebis —, through Schwarzwaldhochstraße, Murgtal, Kinzigtal, and Renchtal. In 2026, special emphasis will be placed on a commemorative special stage: 80 years since the reopening of the Ruhestein mountain race track (1946), one of the early post-war hill climbs in the Black Forest.
The highlight of the weekend is the Saturday evening gala, featuring culinary contributions from the four major Baiersbronn establishments: the restaurant Bareiss (multiple Three Michelin Stars), Engel Obertal, Hotel Sackmann with the Restaurant Schlossberg, and Traube Tonbach with the Schwarzwaldstube legacy — the Black Forest's only ever Three-Star restaurant. Each establishment contributes a course or a station for the evening, with participants rotating or experiencing the multi-course menu at one location.
Baiersbronn is located in the district of Freudenstadt in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in the heart of the Black Forest National Park. With approximately 14,500 inhabitants and scattered valleys (Tonbach, Murgtal, Klosterreichenbach, Obertal, Schwarzenberg), Baiersbronn is one of the largest area municipalities in Germany. The combination of natural scenery, high altitudes, hiking tourism, and star-rated cuisine has made Baiersbronn the "Three-Star Region" — a context that makes the Classic a truly unique Black Forest event.
The 12th Baiersbronn Classic runs as a three-day rally from Thursday/Friday, September 24th/25th to Saturday, September 26th, 2026. The organizer is Baiersbronn Touristik. The stages lead through Schwarzwaldhochstraße, Murgtal, Kinzigtal, Renchtal, and over the typical passes of Ruhestein, Schliffkopf, and Kniebis.
Special feature 2026: a special stage around Ruhestein on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the reopening of the Ruhestein mountain race track (1946) — one of the early post-war hill climbs in the Black Forest. The culinary highlight is the connoisseur's evening on Saturday with the participation of Baiersbronn's four top establishments.
